Keratoconus. Riboflavinum
New treatment which makes the shown success but which has not been approved yet in all countries, involves disposable application of an eye of Riboflavinum, wanes to an eye. Riboflavinum when 30 minutes with light of ultra-violet beams of spectrum A are activated by illumination approximately, enlarges traversal communications of collagen within a stroma and so the part of mechanical strength of a cornea recovers. The treatment developed at the Dresden University of Technology as showed, has slowed down or has impeded a progression keratoconus, and in some cases even has reversed it, especially when is imposed in a combination with intrakornealnymi ring segments. Clinical trials are prolonged, and till now a few procedures have been executed, but the technics shows the promise in treatment of diseases in an initial stage of illness. Corrective lenses can still be required after treatment, but hope, that it could restrict the further degradation in vision of the patient and reduce a case for a keratoplasty.
