Pterygium

The pterygium is usually converted to good-quality growth of a conjunctiva. Serially, it is converted to any similar to a wing the triangular membrane meeting in a neck, centuries, knees, knees, malleoluses or digits. An example - a popliteal syndrome of a pterygium which damages feet. Term arrives from the Greek word pterygion value of "wing".

When it is bound to a conjunctiva, the pterygium usually grows from the nasal side of a sclera. It causes preferentially allocation of ultra-violet light (for example light). It appears preobladajushche on the nasal side because the cornea operates as a lens for a sunlight on the medial/nasal side, but not on a lateral face / temporal, owing to a shade thrown by a nose.

Pathology

The pterygium in a conjunctiva is characterized elastoticheskoj by a degeneration of collagen and a sosudisto-fibrous proliferation. It has the moving ahead part termed as a head of a pterygium which contacts a main body of a pterygium a neck. Sometimes the line of iron deposition can be noted an adjacent to a head of the pterygium termed as line Stocker's. As it is good-quality growth, it does not demand any treatment if it does not grow to such degree, that it coats a pupil, pinching vision. Wearing of protective dark glasses with side screens will help to prevent their formation or to stop the further growth.

Casually is as incidental detection in the middle at the age of patients who spend a lot of time for the sun.
