What are potential side effects to PRK and LASIK? What is the percentage risk of these problems occuring?

If it makes any odds, I’m 18, -2.25 in both eyes and normally wear contacts. I realise that once I hit the 50 y.O mark my eyesight will deteriorate again

There are risks in any surgery, eye up the loss of the eye.

There is enough space to list every possible side effect, but your ophthalmologist can give you a consent form that would list most of them.

There is probably a 98% chance that everything will be fine but again, ask your surgeon. Nothing in medicine can be guaranteed, so if you promise perfection, run away fast. When you reach 40-45, you will begin to lose the ability to see up close. That is just the eye ages, it is a failure of the laser.
