Actually, you probably want LASEK instead of LASIK, since LASEK is newer and creates a smaller flap in the cornea (which is less damaging).
And there’s a new type being developed called “Wavefront LASEK,” which can theoretically give you better vision than any glasses currently could.
As far as risks, LASEK has complications very rarely, usually increased glare or blurriness, but since the procedure is performed on the cornea rather than the retina, the risk of going blind is practically zero.

It depends on the skill of the doctor, and it cannot be reversed

You will have to research what is available 8 or 10 years from now. Lasik has few risks and Lasek which is better has even less risks. I got Lasik done 7 years ago and couldn’t be happier. I have a -8. 50 myopia, thats about 20/750. Hard to say since the charts only goto 20/500. I now have 20/10 vision. So if your able to keep with your doctor about your plans and when your older and your prescription has settled down and isn’t likely to change get it down. I went to Lasik Centers of America in Windsor Canada, hour away from Michigan where I live. They have lifetime adjustments for when you get older incase you need them.

There can be complications but it’s definitely something to look into. My manager had surgery a month or so ago and he was at a -6.00 in both eyes which is really strong nearsightedness.
And he’s been fine. He doesn’t wear glasses anymore. I would def talk to an eye surgeon though!!
