Lasik surgery? Risks? Benefits?
I’ve been looking into Lasik eye surgery to correct my vision. I’d like to know the average cost for this procedure. I’d also like to know risks, benefits, etc.
The more info, the better. Thanks.

Theres a 24% chance to lose all vision so there would be a shell of $ 2000 dollars to go blind.

Do not do it.
If you can correct your vision with contacts or glasses you are better off.
Advice from my doctor. I know more than one person wishes they had never had surgery.

If you can afford to get Lasik, do it! I made some three years ago, and I love my results.
The cost was about $ 3000, but my husbands insurance paid for half so, you might want to call your health insurance.
There are risks in all surgeries.
But my eyes are now 20/20. Such an exemption would not have to worry about contacts and glasses.
And if you buy contacts and glasses, as I did every year. In five years, all the money spent will be saved. Thus, surgery in the long run pays for itself. Good luck

LASIK will almost certainly reduce your dependence on glasses and contact lenses, however, is uncertain and there can be no guarantee that you will be able to achieve perfect vision no glasses.
You have 90 to 95% chance of passing the test vision to get driving licenses glasses (i. E 20/40 vision) and therefore 90 to 95% chance that you will be able to drive legally no glasses after LASIK ( Source:
-http://www.Agingeye.Ne/tlasi/klASIK.php) Serious complications from refractive surgery are rare, as evidenced by the low rate of loss of best spectacle-corrected visual acuity. However, before undergoing any refractive procedure, you must carefully weigh the risks and benefits based on your personal value system and try to avoid being influenced by friends who had the procedure or doctors encouraging you to do so. Remember that although rare, complications that occur.
Some patients lose lines of vision on the vision chart that can be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or surgery as a result of treatment. Loss of best spectacle-corrected visual acuity more than two lines made in just under 1.0% of patients (data FDA) These results are generally not as good in patients with very large refractive errors of any kind.
You should discuss your expectations with your doctor and realize that it may still require glasses or contacts after surgery. For some insightful patients, results may diminish with age.
If you are vision, improving the level of vision you experience after surgery may decrease with age. This can occur if your manifest refraction (a vision exam with lenses before dilation drops) is very different from your cycloplegic refraction (a vision exam with lenses after dilation drops).
Some patients develop debilitating visual symptoms.
Some patients develop glare, halos, an/dor double vision that can seriously affect night vision. Even with good vision on the vision chart, some patients do not see as well as in situations of low contrast, such as at night or in fog, after treatment than before treatment.

As far as safety is LASIK these days is very safe and a great alternative to special glasses and contact lenses.
Average your outcome depends on the laser and surgeon, but with the right laser surgeon and you can look forward to a long time no glasses. Now between the ages of 40 and 50 will end up wearing readers only because of the natural aging of the eye. Normal and more obvious risks with your LASIK is not really a loss of vision. Most complications are infection and dry eye. Benefits are not life just contacts or glasses. Regarding the costs will probably have the recipe according to your, which honestly should depeding wherever you are.
The truth is you shouldn't have to pay more than $ 3,500 tops, and that should include a lifetime of coverage in case you ever need a touch u/penhancement.
