Diabetic retinopathy. Laser surgery
The type of the laser surgery termed panretinal as a photocoagulation, or PRP, is used to treat a serious edema of maculae and a proliferative retinopathy. The purpose consists in framing 1 000 - 2 000 combustions in a retina with hope of weakening of the oxygen demand of a retina, and therefore ischemia possibilities. In treatment of a premature diabetic retinopathy combustions are used to blast pathological blood vessels which are shaped behind an eye.
Before surgery the ophthalmologist dilates a pupil and imposes anesthetic drops to stun an eye. In some cases, the doctor also can stun field behind an eye to prevent any discomfort. After laser treatment patients need to advise not to go within several hours while pupils still extend. Vision can remain little bit indistinct for other part of day though there should not be a pain considerable quantity in an eye.
