History LASIK
LASIK, the acronym for Helping laser In Situ Keratomileusis, is the shape of refracting laser eye procedure of the surgery executed by ophthalmologists, intended to correct vision. Procedure usually - exclusive alternative photorefracting keratectomy, PRK as it is required to less time for the full restoration, and the patient feels less than a pain everywhere.
Technics LASIK has been made possible by doctor Jose Barraquer (Colombia), who approximately in 1960 developed the first microkeratome used to reduce thin folding cusps in a cornea and to change its shape, in the procedure termed keratomileusis. This procedure has been developed and Colombia was conducted by the world conducting Clinic Barraquer, grounded in Bogota.
Surgery LASIK has been developed in 1990 Dr. Lucio Buratto (Italy) and Dr. Ioannis Pallikaris (Greece) as integrating of two previous methods, keratomileusis and photorefracting keratectomy. It became prompt popular because of its larger accuracy and lower frequency of complications in comparison with these former two methods.
In 1991, LASIK has been executed for the first time in the United States by doctor Stephen Brint and Stephen Slade. The Same year, doctor Thomas and Tobias Neuhann successfully treated first German patients LASIK with the automated microkeratome.
